How to make a QR code

  1. Choose the content: link, text, Wi-Fi, phone, email or SMS.
  2. Type it in; the code updates as you go. Change colours, size and error correction under Look and download settings.
  3. Download PNG (social media, documents) or SVG (print, design tools), and test it with your phone before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator free? Do the codes expire?

It’s free with no sign-in. The codes are static: the content is written into the pattern itself, so they never expire and don’t depend on lnk.hk’s servers.

What’s the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static QR code contains the link itself, so it can’t be changed after printing and can’t count scans. A dynamic QR code points at a short link: you can change the destination without reprinting and see scans by day, country and device. Every lnk.hk short link has one.

Can I track how many times a QR code is scanned?

Not with a static code. Shorten the link with lnk.hk and use its QR code instead; each scan counts as a click in the stats.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name (SSID), password and security type (usually WPA/WPA2). Guests scan with their phone camera and join in one tap. The code is made in your browser, so the password never reaches a server.

How big should a printed QR code be?

At least 2 × 2 cm. The further away people scan from, the bigger it needs to be: roughly scanning distance ÷ 10, so about 10 cm for a poster read from 1 metre. Shorter content makes a less dense, easier-to-scan code.

Can I change the colours?

Yes. Keep a dark pattern on a light background with enough contrast, or some phones won’t read it. The tool warns you when the contrast is too low.
