FPS QR code generator

Make a Hong Kong FPS payment QR code from a mobile number, email or FPS ID. Add an amount, download PNG or SVG, or print a payment sign.

The mobile number or email must already be registered as an FPS proxy with your bank or e-wallet, or payers won’t find you.

Your FPS QR code

Enter your FPS proxy and the QR code appears here.

Scan it yourself first

Scan the code with your own or a friend’s bank app and check the recipient name it shows before you print or share it.

How to make an FPS payment QR code

  1. Choose the proxy type (mobile number, email or FPS ID) and enter the one you registered with FPS.
  2. If you charge the same amount every time, such as tuition or a deposit, enter it. Otherwise leave it blank for the payer to fill in.
  3. Test it with a bank app, check the recipient name, then download PNG or SVG, or print the payment sign.

What is an FPS QR code?

The Faster Payment System (FPS, 轉數快) is Hong Kong’s instant payment system, launched in September 2018. It moves money between different banks and e-wallets around the clock. The recipient doesn’t give out an account number, only a registered mobile number, email address or FPS ID.

An FPS QR code writes that proxy, plus an optional amount and reference, into a pattern that follows Hong Kong’s common QR code standard. The payer scans it in a bank or e-wallet app and the details are filled in, with no digits to type and none to get wrong.

When it helps

  • Shops and market stallsStand the sign by the till; customers scan and key in the amount.
  • Tuition and class feesFix the amount and add a reference so payments are easy to match.
  • Online and Instagram shopsSend the image to the customer or include it in the order message.
  • Splitting bills and event feesPost one image in the group chat and everyone scans to pay.

Frequently asked questions

Is this FPS QR code generator free?

Yes. It’s free, needs no sign-in and has no usage limit. The code is made in your browser, so your mobile number, email and amount are never sent to or stored by lnk.hk.

What can I use to receive payment?

A mobile number, an email address or an FPS ID (a 7 to 9 digit number you get when you register), as long as it is registered with FPS at your bank or e-wallet. Payers reach your default receiving account with it and never see your account number.

Why does the payer’s app say the recipient can’t be found?

Usually the mobile number or email isn’t registered with FPS yet, or no default receiving account has been set. Register it in your bank or e-wallet app first, then test by scanning with another phone.

Which apps can scan the code?

Any Hong Kong bank app or e-wallet that supports paying by FPS QR code. The payer doesn’t need to use the same bank as you.

Can I fix the amount in the QR code?

Yes. Enter an amount and the payer’s app fills it in when they scan. Leave it blank and the payer types the amount, which suits payments that differ each time.

Does an FPS QR code expire?

No. It only contains your FPS proxy (plus the amount and reference if you added them) and keeps working for as long as that proxy stays registered. If you change the default receiving account, payments follow the new registration.

Is it safe to share this QR code?

The code only holds details for paying you; nobody can take money from your account with it. Before confirming, the payer’s app shows part of the recipient’s name, which they should check. Note that printing a code made from your mobile number makes that number public; use an FPS ID if you’d rather not.
