QR code designer: colours, shapes, logo and frames

Enter something and your QR code appears here.

SVG is vector and best for printers; use PNG at 2048 px or more.

How to design your QR code

  1. Enter the content: a link, text, Wi-Fi details or a contact card. To change the link later or count scans, choose Make it a trackable lnk.hk link.
  2. Pick a preset, then adjust module shape, eyes, colours, gradient and frame; upload a logo or fetch the site icon for the centre.
  3. Scan the preview with a phone to test it, then download SVG (print) or PNG (social media, documents).

Keeping it scannable

  • Keep the contrast highDark pattern, light background. Both ends of a gradient need to contrast with the background.
  • Leave the eyes aloneThe three corner squares are how phones find the code; neither the logo nor the frame should cover them.
  • Keep the logo smallThe tool caps it at 30% and uses the highest error correction. Smaller is safer.
  • Test before printingScan once on an iPhone and once on Android; size it at about scanning distance ÷ 10.

Just need a plain code, or hundreds at once? Use the QR code generator. For payment or Wi-Fi codes there are dedicated FPS and Wi-Fi tools.

Frequently asked questions

Can phones still scan a coloured QR code with dots or a logo?

Yes, as long as the contrast stays high (dark pattern on a light background), the three corner eyes stay intact and the logo covers no more than 30%. With a logo the tool switches to the highest error-correction level (H), so the covered part is recovered from the rest. Always test with a phone before printing.

Is the designer free? Do I need an account?

It’s free, needs no sign-in and adds no watermark. PNG goes up to 4096 px and SVG is vector, so it scales to any size. Everything is done in your browser; your content and logo are never uploaded.

What’s the difference between a static and a trackable (dynamic) QR code?

A static code has the content written into the pattern, so it can’t change after printing and can’t count scans. Choose Make it a trackable lnk.hk link and the code points at a lnk.hk short link instead: change the destination any time without reprinting, and after signing in see scans by day, region and device.

What does Use the site icon do?

After you enter a link, it fetches that website’s icon (favicon) and places it in the middle of the code, so you don’t need a logo file. For a sharper result, upload your own PNG or SVG logo.

Can I download a QR code with a transparent background?

Yes. Tick Transparent background and download PNG or SVG to place the code over a poster, menu or packaging design. The artwork underneath must stay light, or scanning suffers.

Do gradients and frame text affect scanning?

A gradient is fine as long as both end colours contrast well with the background; the tool warns you when they don’t. Frames and text sit outside the code’s quiet zone, so they don’t affect scanning, and a Scan me prompt tends to raise scan rates.

Can I make many codes, or print them on hang tags?

Yes. Set the style here and download the SVG for your printer; it works for hang tags, packaging and labels. To make a separate code for each of many products, use the bulk mode of the plain QR code generator and download them as a ZIP.
